Why does the washing machine not take water from the barrel and how to solve the problem

Why doesn't the washing machine take water from the barrel

The washing machine does not take water from the barrel most often due to the lack of necessary pressure. Most modern models are designed for a minimum system pressure of 0.3 to 0.5 bar. If the water flows by gravity, its pressure is insufficient, and the machine "does not see" the water. To remedy the situation, you can raise the barrel higher — the higher it is installed, the stronger the pressure. However, stable operation most often requires the installation of a small pressure booster pump.

Sometimes the reason lies not in the pressure, but in the blockage. Sand, rust, or dirt from the barrel may accumulate in the hose or in the filter mesh at the entrance to the washing machine. In this case, you need to remove the hose, clean the filter and flush the system. If this does not help, it is worth checking the intake valve. When the valve is defective and does not open when the program is started, water cannot be supplied even at normal pressure. In this case, the element must be replaced.

It is also worth considering the specifics of a particular washing machine model. Some devices are not designed to work with gravity and require a pump connection. Therefore, installing a barrel at a height of two to three meters can partially solve the problem, but the most reliable option remains the installation of additional equipment to create stable pressure.

Thus, if the washing machine does not draw water from the barrel, first of all you need to check the installation height, the condition of the filter and valve, and also consider installing a pump. This will ensure the normal operation of the equipment and eliminate the need to manually control the water supply.
