Extractor hood in the kitchen: why you really need it and how to choose the right one

A modern kitchen is not only a beautiful set and thoughtful appliances. It also has clean air, no odors and a cozy atmosphere. But all this is impossible without one important element — the hood. Many underestimate its importance, believing that it is possible to do without it. In fact, an extractor hood is not just a household appliance, but a real defender of health, furniture and the atmosphere in the house.

During cooking, fats, steam, odors, and combustion products are released into the air. Gorenje This is especially true when frying or stewing for a long time. If there is no extractor hood in the kitchen, all this settles on the cabinets, ceiling, curtains and in the lungs. Even if the room is regularly ventilated, it does not provide complete protection. An extractor hood installed directly above the hob instantly draws in polluted air, filters it and either takes it outside or cleans it and returns it back.

There are two main types of hoods: flow-through and recirculating. The first ones are connected to the ventilation shaft and take the polluted air outside. This is the most effective cleaning method, but it requires a certain installation and access to ventilation. The second option, recirculating hoods— drives air through filters, purifies it and returns it back to the room. Such models are especially popular in apartments where there is no way to connect to the mine.

Another important parameter is productivity, that is, how many cubic meters of air the hood can purify in an hour. For a standard kitchen in Uzbekistan (with an area of 10-12 m2), a device with a capacity of 300 to 600 m3/h is suitable. If you cook frequently and actively, especially dishes with roast or spices, it is better to choose a more powerful option.

Do not forget about the noise level. Modern hoods can operate almost silently, especially models with good sound insulation and multiple power modes. This is especially important if the kitchen is combined with the living room or is located next to the bedrooms.

Design also plays a role. Modern hoods can be domed, flat, telescopic, or built—in to fit any interior and layout. But reliability, ease of cleaning, and the availability of replaceable filters are much more important. Metal grease filters are easy to clean by hand or in the dishwasher, while carbon filters need to be replaced every few months.

When buying a hood, it is also worth considering the size — the width of the hood should be at least the width of the stove. This ensures effective suction and minimizes the leakage of odors to the sides.

On loretto.uz There is a wide range of hoods that are suitable for both small kitchens and spacious rooms. You can choose the right model based on power, filtration type and design — everything for your comfort and cleanliness in the kitchen.
